Lottie Moon (1840-1912) was 32 when she sailed to China leaving all behind for the sake of the Gospel including her job, a wealthy family, and a marriage proposal. God had stirred her up with China’s need for Jesus.
For 39 years she labored hard on the mission field. Many people rejected her, yet she wouldn’t leave. The smell of fresh baked cookies drew people into her house. She began dressing like the Chinese and even took on their language and customs. Many eventually accepted her and her Savior.
Disease, hardship, and a lack of support threatened to undermine her work, but she absolutely gave her all to God, which laid the foundation of what became one of the fastest growing Christian movements in the world, the modern Chinese church.
